Jakarta is about to experience a spine-chilling Japanese horror event like never before. Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2025 (AFAID25), one of Southeast Asia’s largest Japanese pop culture celebrations, proudly presents the Meizu x Shadow Corridor horror attraction. This thrilling collaboration between tech brand Meizu and the acclaimed Japanese horror game Shadow Corridor will run for three full days, from June 6–8, 2025, at the Jakarta Convention Center.

Since its inception in 2008, AFA has become a regional phenomenon for anime, cosplay, gaming, and J-culture fans. With more than 520 performing artists and 2,300 exhibitors across six cities, AFA has captivated over 2.3 million attendees. Now, for the first time, AFAID25 ventures into the realm of horror by teaming up with Tokyo’s leading horror theater group, OBAKEN.

Who Is OBAKEN? Japan’s Masters of Immersive Fear

OBAKEN is a horror entertainment group based in Honancho, Tokyo. Renowned for creating highly immersive haunted house experiences, OBAKEN places visitors directly in the center of a terrifying narrative. Since 2012, they have produced realistic horror attractions, live theatrical scares, and game collaborations.

By blending lighting, sound design, and atmospheric set pieces, OBAKEN crafts narrative-driven horror that goes far beyond simple jump scares. Each production is carefully designed to draw participants deep into a story-driven nightmare.

What Is Shadow Corridor?

Shadow Corridor is a critically praised 3D Japanese horror game developed by Kazuki Shiroma. Known for its maze-like structure and eerie ambiance, the game challenges players to navigate through shadowy corridors filled with unseen horrors. Now, Meizu x Shadow Corridor brings this digital nightmare into real life, offering players a live-action version of the game.

The storyline begins as you’re haunted by recurring nightmares and inexplicable anxiety. Seeking help, you visit a peculiar doctor who recommends ending the dream yourself. As he chants incomprehensible spells, your vision distorts and sound fades—pulling you into a labyrinth that resembles an abandoned hospital.

Amid chilling noises and wandering creatures, you and your group must find five spirit orbs and place them on an altar. Escape before time runs out—or risk losing your protective charm and becoming permanently trapped in this nightmare dimension.

A Haunted House Experience Like No Other

Meizu x Shadow Corridor is not your typical haunted house. It blends live gaming with Japanese horror aesthetics. Participants will explore darkened hallways with only a flashlight to guide them. Along the way, they’ll encounter ghostly actors, immersive effects, and psychological terror rooted in Japanese folklore.

What makes this experience unique is the lack of dialogue, making it friendly for international guests while preserving the authentic feel of Japanese horror. It’s a test of both courage and survival instincts, as players must work together and face fears head-on.

Horror Experience Expands Across Jakarta

In addition to its main appearance at AFAID25, Meizu x Shadow Corridor will go on tour across several major shopping malls in Jakarta. This traveling horror attraction aims to bring the immersive experience closer to fans who may not attend the main festival. More details on dates and locations will be announced soon.
