The drama “Mondaibukken,” currently airing on Fuji TV, will feature Hiro Shimono and Haruka Tomatsu as guest stars. This drama is adapted from a novel by Takahiro Okura, who is also known as the screenwriter of the film “Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Pentagram.”
This drama with the mystery genre. “Mondaibukken” follows the journey of an eccentric hero named Kotaro Inuto and a woman passionate about properties, Emiko Wakamiya. Together, they handle various mysterious and bizarre cases occurring in different buildings or properties.
The fifth episode, scheduled to air on February 12, will showcase Shimono and Tomatsu in key roles in one of the cases handled by Emiko. In this episode, Emiko receives a request to investigate a room in a particular house suspected of experiencing the phenomenon of kanashibari or sleep paralysis. The house is occupied by a married couple and their young child. With a spacious living room design and a comfortable atmosphere, the house should be an ideal residence. However, for about the past month, the couple has claimed to experience a strange phenomenon every morning at four o’clock, where they become immobile as if paralyzed.
Hiro Shimono plays Ryo Okazaki, the resident experiencing the phenomenon, while Haruka Tomatsu portrays Kyoko Okazaki, Ryo’s wife. Besides them, this episode will also feature several supporting actors. Ishii from Sayaka will play Keita Koyama, the real estate agent handling the Okazaki family’s house transaction. Meanwhile, Shihou Harumi will play Takamasa Miyake, the chairman of the neighborhood association where the Okazaki family resides.
In the storyline, Emiko, as a property expert, immediately visits the house after receiving the report. She tries to delve deeper into the experiences of the Okazaki couple. According to their testimony, the phenomenon started about a month earlier. Every day, precisely at four in the morning, they feel a terrifying sensation where their bodies become paralyzed, unable to move or speak. They sense an unseen presence in their room, intensifying their fear.
As someone accustomed to handling mysteries in the real estate world, Emiko begins to link this incident to various possible factors. She conducts further investigations, including researching the house’s history, speaking with nearby neighbors, and coordinating with the real estate agent managing the property transaction. Additionally, she discusses with the neighborhood association chairman to gather more information on similar incidents in the area.
The presence of Shimono and Tomatsu in this episode is expected to bring a new dynamic to the “Mondaibukken” storyline. With a combination of mystery and suspense elements, this episode will invite viewers to speculate on the true cause behind the Okazaki family’s experience.
